This is the page that will hopefully answer any questions you may have and provide you helpful information related to our wedding! Please take a look and reach out directly if you have any questions.
Location
Our wedding is at The Barn at Sunset Ranch in Buena Vista, CO (27650 Co Rd 337, Buena Vista, CO 81211). The venue includes an outdoor ceremony area, an outdoor patio for cocktail hour, and a barn for the reception all overlooking the mountains. The Barn has ample parking in a gravel lot right on site. Carpooling is not required, though it may be easier getting to the venue.
Buena Vista is about 2 hours from Denver and about 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs. Buena Vista is a cute small mountain town with southwestern influence with views of the Rocky Mountains and Arkansas River. The downtown boasts many great restaurants and bars with unique boutiques sprinkled in. Outside of the downtown, there are lots of scenic trails. A big plus is how dog friendly the town is!
Lodging
There are many Airbnbs close to the venue. Thankfully, the venue is not sequestered away from civilization so finding lodging near the venue won’t be a problem. Please note: October is very busy season so please secure your lodging sooner rather than later.
Within the next few months, we will include the list of hotels we have blocks for. In the meantime, please look into lodging in Buena Vista, CO preferably in zip code of 81211 to ensure that you are close to the venue.
FAQs
Kid policy?
We have decided to have a kid free wedding, including ceremony and reception. It’s up to you if you bring a sitter with you to Buena Vista or if you leave them at home. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. There will be no exceptions made.
Color scheme?
Kind of. It’s preferred that our guests wear a typical autumnal color (deep and vibrant reds, terracotta, dark green, etc.), but the wedding police won’t be called if you don’t.
Open bar?
YES. In the RSVP, please be sure to include your beverage preferences so we can do our best to accommodate them.
Marijuana policy?
It’s preferred that you don’t partake on the property. If you chose to, please be discreet. There are guests that do not engage in the activity and want to respect their preferences.
Will your dogs be there? Are they nice?
Yes, they will! And they are really looking forward to it. Our dogs are very sweet, but they are dogs. They will get excited and likely try to jump on you (not Walter, he doesn’t get much height), give you lots of kisses, and have no regard for your personal space. They may bark if they’re excited or overwhelmed. We ask that you don’t scream if they jump on you, that will only make them more excited or more nervous. They love to be pet and told how cute they are, and Wendy in particular would be over the moon if someone threw a ball or stick for her.
